Your Holiday in Bruges

Places to Eat and Drink in Bruges

Restaurants are not always cheap, nor wonderful.  Sad to say that Belgian cuisine is a long way behind the French in terms of variety.  Stay away from the central market place, Grote Markt when eating.  Tourists are easy victims here.

Brasserie Forestière – Small and very cozy restaurant, good food, not too expensive.

De Bottelier - Excellent food, reasonable prices.

In't Nieuw Museum - Excellent steaks, reasonable prices.  Best to reserve in advance.

La Romagna – Inexpensive, family-run, Italian restaurant and pizzeria.

Belgium has more than 400 different types of beer.  Here is a list of a few good places to drink:

Café De Kogge - A wonderful place for a few drinks.  This family-run place has an amazingly-friendly atmosphere.  It is a great place to sample beer along with the local crowd.

Curiosa - A good place for a beer as well as lunch.

De Garre - This pub offers a nice atmosphere and about 100 different kinds of beers including home-brewed ones.

't Brugs Beertje - This excellent pub has 100s of different beers and an authentic beer-cafe atmosphere.

Vlissinghe tavern - One of the less touristy bars, with a nice selection of draught and bottled beers.
