Bruges Shopping guide
The standards of
chocolate shops are always high, so to are the boutique-style beer
shops. Whilst the chocolates sold in the shops are indisputably
gorgeous, they are quite expensive too. A good idea is to buy chocolate
bars from a supermarket. They are still fantastic, and cheaper. The
same goes for beer. Instead of buying from over-priced, speciality
stores, you can buy at a better price in a supermarket.
There is plenty
of arts and crafts too with some excellent, local artists. Most shops
are open Tuesday to Sunday with many shops and museums closed on
Monday’s.
High Street
names and major department stores congregate on Steenstraat. Shopping
Malls can be found at Burg Square, Zuidandstraat, Hallestraat and
Wollestraat. Those who prefer the charm of yesteryear should try the
Antiques Market.
Antique hunters
should check out the centre’s flea market, selling items from stained
glass windows to garden knomes.
Shop for
diamonds in all shapes, sizes and carats at Brugs Diamanthuis.
With the sea
just being a few miles away, it’s no surprise that Bruges has a fabulous
fish market.
Most shops open
from 9.00am until 6.00pm, Monday to Saturday, with department stores
staying open until 8.00pm.
