Your Holiday in Rome

Places to Eat and Drink in Rome

The only way to really understand the heart and soul of Rome and it’s people, is by tasting its culinary splendours! Popular restaurants allow you to steep yourself in Roman culture; discover the tastes and flavours of traditional cooking through the ages of Rome.

Testaccio is an excellent area if you wish to enjoy Roman specialities with such places as Checchino dal 1887 being highly recommended. The district of Trastevere is another great place to find nice places to eat, and within the Ghetto there are plenty of places where you can enjoy Judeo – Roman.

Pizzerias are by far the most popular places to dine in Rome. Being informal and well priced, as well as quick service makes them an excellent place to dine. Home to the pizza alla romana, which are pizzas with a thin crust and a crispy edge. You'll find pizzerias in every part of Rome.

Pubs and bars in the centre of town are an excellent place to begin if you fancy a night out. Most bars have tables outside; you can sit around these until the early hours. Campo dei Fiori (especially for the younger crowd), the Piazza Navona area, and Trastevere are some of the best places for an evening out.

For nightclubs the best area to head for is by far Testaccio. The area around Piramide metro station and spreading down the Via Ostiense and Via di Monte Testaccio contains the highest concentration of nightclubs, and the best.
