Rijksmuseum :
From December 2003 to 2008 the
Rijksmuseum Amsterdam will undergo the biggest rebuilding, renovation
and modernization program in its history.
Van Gogh Museum:
A visit to the Van Gogh Museum is a
unique experience, it houses the largest collection of Van Gogh’s work
and provide a fantastic insight into his life and work. Van Gogh’s work
is arranged in five chronological periods. These periods correspond with
a certain phase in Van Gogh’s life and work. You will find the Museum
situated on the Museumplein in Amsterdam, between the Rijksmuseum and
the Stedelijk Museum
Stedelijk Museum:
The museum offers a diverse exhibition
program, including highlights from the main collection of modern and
contemporary art, photography, applied art and design after 1968. The
Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art is temporarily located on the second and
third floor of the Post-CS building (next to Central Station) on the
Oosterdokskade. It will stay at this location until the renovation of
the building on Museumplein (Museum Square) is finalized (2008).
Anne
Frank House: The Anne Frank House is
situated in the centre Amsterdam: the hiding place where Anne Frank
wrote her famous diary during World War II. The Anne Frank Foundation
was founded in 1957 to save the Anne Frank House from being demolished
and in 1960 the house was opened as museum.
Canal cruises:
Rather than find your way through the narrow
streets you can enjoy canal cruises throughout the year. The
possibilities range from standard canal cruises lasting one hour through
to cruises of four hours including dinner. In the evening you can
experience special candlelight cruises.
